The B020C's 2W green beam at 520nm produces a high-contrast visible spot observable from across a site, enabling precise long-range pointing at structural fixtures, cable runs, and alignment markers without shouting across the noise.
Survival & Emergency Preparedness
In backcountry environments where radio and cell service are unavailable, the beam column projects a visible vertical signal against the sky — identifiable by search aircraft from several kilometers away. The thermal concentration capability also provides a reliable backup ignition method on dry tinder in extreme survival situations where conventional fire-starting tools have failed.
Astronomy & Light-Polluted Stargazing
Even in suburban areas with moderate light pollution, the B020C's 520nm green beam remains clearly visible against the night sky — the wavelength falls near the peak of human scotopic (dark-adapted) vision sensitivity. Astronomers use it to point out deep-sky objects to groups; the beam appears to touch the target, making it far more intuitive than verbal coordinates. The blue variants are not recommended for astronomy due to the eye's lower dark-adapted sensitivity to 450nm wavelengths.
